Roof Above is a comprehensive homeless service provider. Our mission is to unite our community to end homelessness, one life at a time. Focusing on individuals experiencing homelessness, Roof Above offers a continuum of services ranging from street outreach to a Day Services Center, emergency shelter, and housing. Roof Above’s services and programs reach approximately 1,400 individuals each day across all our services combined.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Donor Cultivation Specialist is a member of the Roof Above Philanthropy Team that focuses primarily on major gift fundraising strategies. This position will oversee cultivation strategies for a portfolio of high-net-worth supporters, while also helping the team build and strengthen the donor pipeline. This position will require exceptional communication skills, a willingness to engage community partners across all campuses & programs and must have a passion for Roof Above’s work.

The Donor Cultivation Specialist plays a vital role in creating meaningful engagement opportunities, including Lunch & Learns, campus tours, volunteer experiences, and other personalized interactions. Collaboration is critical to the success of this role within the Philanthropy Team. The Donor Cultivation Specialist is expected to work closely with colleagues across departments to coordinate donor strategies, strengthen relationships, and deliver exceptional donor experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospective major gift donors within their portfolio.
• Maintain a portfolio where 1/3 of the accounts are in solicitation.
• Works closely with the Marketing & Communication team to manage targeted donor segments and special communications.
• Manage a tight timeline that is exacting and consistent, to move donors through Discovery, tracking qualified, unqualified, and disqualified segments.
• Manage Discovery reporting in Virtuous (Roof Above’s donor database) to track contact notes, donor capacity, affinity, range, and timing.
• Manage activities for high-net-worth donors that build affinity for Roof Above’s work.
• Attends and supports donor events – as delegated by the Chief Philanthropy Officer
• Supports the Philanthropy team to create and execute donor communications that celebrate select milestones -- lifetime giving, years of engagement, anniversaries, etc.
• Qualify, cultivate, steward, and grow a donor portfolio through consistent, strategic, and creative engagement aligned with nonprofit fundraising best practices.
• Support True Blessing initiatives as directed by the Chief Philanthropy Officer, including a key role in recruiting and supporting True Blessings table hosts.
• Supports team members when needed and performs other development-related duties as assigned by the Chief Philanthropy Officer

OTHER DUTIES

• Promote and lead initiatives that strengthen a culture of philanthropy across the organization and Roof Above community.
• Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy Operations to manage donor pledges, including the preparation and distribution of biannual pledge statements.
• Support broader Philanthropy team initiatives and projects as directed by the Chief Philanthropy Officer.
