Job Summary:

Due to growth, HonorBridge is recruiting for a Donor Service Center Coordinator. In this role you will answer referral calls and conduct the preliminary screening relating to the identification and documentation of donors and or potential donors to determine medical suitability. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in a clinical environment; is comfortable working in a fast-paced call center environment and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. EMT’s, Paramedics, LPNs or similiar, are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You'll be Doing:

  • This is an onsite position based out of our Winston Salem office.
  • The schedule for this position is three 12-hour shifts per week.
  • This is a night shift position. Shift hours are 8:00pm – 8:00am and shifts rotate through weekdays and weekends

Triages Organ, Tissue, and Eye referrals

  • Applies knowledge of medical criteria in performing donor triage and evaluation
  • Reviews electronic medical records and demonstrates problem-solving skills to recover necessary information for suitability determination
  • Demonstrates initiative and skill in identifying all donation opportunities
  • Negotiates effectively with medical professionals, funeral homes, and other entities in the management of referrals
  • Notifies the appropriate HonorBridge staff of authorized donors in a timely manner
  • Exhibits superior ability maintaining accuracy, prioritizing and meeting deadlines while managing multiple tasks

Maintain electronic medical record (EMR) access to all available hospitals.

  • Utilizes medical information from remote or onsite EMR access to obtain and review available medical records
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and donor/recipient information

Communicates with Medical Examiners/Coroners/Investigators.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills in interacting with medicolegal staff
  • Uses appropriate terminology and language during conversations
  • Demonstrates ability to actively listen
  • Obtains release for Organ, Tissue, and/or Eyes

Completes referral documentation completely and accurately.

  • Adheres to standards for communications and documentation
  • Documents case related data accurately, completely, and in a timely manner into donor management software
  • Submits accurate documentation and paperwork on time

Efficiently uses technology.

  • Manages multiple logins and passwords
  • Simultaneously utilizes a variety of software platforms and applications
  • Learns and adapts easily to new software
  • Types quickly with accurate grammar and spelling

Utilizes supplies and materials in an efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Complies with HonorBridge policy
  • Maintains clean, safe and organized HonorBridge work space

Complies with quality assurance policies and procedures.

  • Collects documentation in donor record and organizes material according to policy
  • Ensures confidentiality of donor information and files

Contacts by telephone/pager the appropriate HonorBridge staff on potential organ donor referrals.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Donor Services Center.

  • An associate's degree in relevant field of study
