Job Summary

The Drafter is responsible forpreparing detailed shop drawings and technical plans for HVAC ducting systemsin construction projects. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with projectspecifications, and coordination with engineers, contractors, and other trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed shop drawings for ducting systems based on project specifications, tender drawings, and engineering designs
  • Produce layout drawings, sections, and installation details using AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software
  • Coordinate drawings with other building services (MEP), architectural, and structural layouts
  • Revise drawings according to client comments, consultant feedback, and site conditions
  • Generate as-built drawings upon project completion
  • Assist in quantity take-off (QTO) and material estimation for ductwork fabrication and installation
  • Ensure drawings comply with local codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Liaise with project engineers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain proper documentation and version control of all drawings
  • Support project teams with technical drafting and design updates

Requirements

Education &Experience

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in HVAC/ducting drafting (construction industry preferred)
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or residential projects is an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D)
  • Knowledge of Revit/BIM modelling is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of HVAC ducting systems and installation practices
  • Familiar with SMACNA/ASHRAE standards or local codes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings

  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Team player with problem-solving ability

Working Conditions

  • Office-based with occasional site visits
  • May require coordination meetings with project teams
