Drill Team Assistant Director

Work hours and expectations:

Responsibilities include early morning practices, pep rallies, Friday night football games, competitions, tryouts, spring show rehearsals and performance, summer camps, and other team-related activities. Practices are 6:30 am to 7:30 am, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Pep rallies are Fridays from 9:15 to 11:00. Drill team responsibilities may result in extended weekday, evening, or weekend commitments, depending on the performance, football, competition, camp, and event schedule.

Primary responsibilities:

Working closely with the Drill Team Director, the Drill Team Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with various aspects of the Cardinal Belles Drill Team program, including team development, training, choreography, performances, competitions, organization, and mentoring team members. The Assistant Director will work directly with the Drill Team Director to help provide a positive, Christ-centered environment where students can develop their God-given talents, grow in confidence and character, and learn to lead and serve others. The Assistant Director is required to abide by the rules, regulations, and expectations established by Fort Worth Christian. All employees must abide by the Statement of Faith and the handbook, both at school and off campus, at personal or non-personal functions. FWC is a member of TAPPS.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Encourage, train, mentor, and assist in coaching the members of the high school drill team;
  • Assist the Drill Team Director in organizing and effectively implementing regular practices, including 6:30 am practices;
  • Assist with teaching, cleaning, and reviewing team routines and choreography;
  • Assist in preparing the team for pep rallies, Friday night football games, competitions, and other school performances;
  • Attend designated football games, competitions, performances, and other team events;
  • Assist with competition practices and preparation throughout the season;
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of annual drill team tryouts;
  • Assist with the planning, preparation, rehearsals, and execution of the annual spring show;
  • Assist with planning and participating in summer camps and other team activities;
  • Assist with ordering uniforms, apparel, props, supplies, equipment, and other team needs;
  • Help maintain an organized, safe, positive, and encouraging practice and team environment;
  • Encourage teamwork, discipline, responsibility, excellence, and good sportsmanship among team members;
  • Serve as a positive Christian role model and mentor to the young women on the team;
  • Build meaningful relationships with team members and intentionally encourage them in their faith, character, confidence, and personal growth;
  • Lead and/or assist with team devotions, prayer, and other opportunities for spiritual growth;
  • Help guide and encourage team members as they grow into confident, Christ-centered young women who seek to honor God through their words, actions, relationships, and talents;
  • Support the Drill Team Director in addressing student concerns and maintaining appropriate standards of behavior, accountability, and excellence;
  • Represent Fort Worth Christian and the drill team program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship and Christian conduct;
  • Perform other duties related to the successful operation of the drill team as assigned by the Drill Team Director or Fine Arts Director
