Part-time
16-24 hours weekly
Pay Range: $20.00/hourly
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Executive Director and supervision of the Transportation Manager, the Driver provides safe and timely transportation to VA medical appointments for Hamilton County Veterans while providing exemplary customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces who received an honorable discharge for all periods served or, if a qualified Veteran is not available, whose spouse, surviving spouse, child, or parent served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely; and
- Ability to understand and adhere to the rules and regulation of the Ohio Department of Transportation and United States Department of Transportation.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Driving record must be free and clear of moving violation citations for 5 years previous to employment as well as free and clear of any criminal convictions. (preferred)
- Must pass the pre-employment drug screening.
- Must Remain insurable under the county’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Maintain necessary First Aid and CPR/AED certification; and
- Complete and pass a BCI/FBI background check.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Motor vehicles, personal computers, copiers, paper shredder, printers, and/or other modern office equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Transport Hamilton County Veterans to and from medical appointments scheduled with and/or by the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
- Discuss other possible VA benefits with the veterans being transported.
- Maintains accurate time sheet entries.
- Work with staff to manage transportation schedule and scheduling of clients.
- Ensure that all reports and other records that are requested are accurate.
- Ensure regular minor maintenance on vehicles within the HCVSC fleet.
- Ensure vehicles are always fueled and available for use.
- Responds immediately to accidents and/or medical emergencies by notifying first responders.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- May be required to participate in a physical exam at the expense of the HCVSC.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to this position at the discretion of the Executive Director and/or HCVSC Board of Commissioners.
- Activities defined in the above position description do not preclude or exempt the
employee from performing other related or non-related duties as may be required to maintain an effectively functioning office.
