Driver | Behavioral Healthcare Transportation
Location: Newport News, VA
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Two Available Schedules
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Monday–Thursday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Tuesday–Saturday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Join Our Team as a Driver!
Our Drivers provide safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for individuals receiving behavioral healthcare services. As an important point of contact for our clients, you’ll help create a supportive and respectful experience while transporting individuals to and from programs, appointments, and other approved locations.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients to and from programs, appointments, and approved locations.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment during transport.
- Communicate professionally with clients, clinical staff, and team members.
- Follow transportation policies, safety procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Complete required documentation and ensure the assigned vehicle is clean and safe.
- Remain calm and provide appropriate support when working with clients experiencing behavioral health or substance use-related challenges.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable driving for extended periods and able to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience professionally transporting people, particularly through NEMT, medical or patient transportation, rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft, or similar services.
- Other professional driving experience, including Amazon or delivery services, is also helpful.
- Medical, EMS, healthcare, or patient care experience is a plus.
- A basic understanding of substance use disorders (SUD), mental health, and the challenges individuals receiving behavioral healthcare services may face is strongly preferred.
