The Role:

We are looking for a reliable and professional Van Driver to join our nursery delivery team based in Basildon. As a key member of our team, you will help support the smooth operation of our delivery service, maintaining high standards of food safety, customer service and professionalism while helping us provide nutritious meals to children across our nursery partners.

This is a casual hours role, typically working 10-hour shifts between Monday and Thursday, with occasional Friday shifts available to support business requirements. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £13.62, plus a shift premium of 5% for AM shifts and 13% for back shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver freshly prepared meals to nursery settings according to daily delivery schedules.
  • Load and unload chilled and ambient food products safely and efficiently, delivering into the nursery settings.
  • Ensure chilled and ambient food products are transported and delivered in accordance with food safety and temperature-controlled requirements.
  • Use handheld devices and company software to confirm deliveries, record compliance checks, and obtain proof of delivery.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the delivery vehicle.
  • Follow all company policies, food safety procedure, and health and safety regulations.
  • Build positive relationships with nursery staff and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with basic kitchen or picking and packing duties when required.
  • Return empty totes to Nursery Kitchen after deliveries.

Essential Skills:
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • A minimum of 3 years delivery driving experience
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Confident driving in London and on longer distance routes
  • Ability to follow planned delivery routes and work independently
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Previous experience in food delivery or a food production environment. (training will be provided)
