What You'll Do as a Driver Coach:
Driver Onboarding & Development
- Serve as a primary point of contact for new drivers throughout the onboarding process.
- Ensure a positive, professional, and supportive onboarding experience from day one.
- Coordinate onboarding requirements, including documentation, compliance processes, and orientation activities.
- Partner with operations and training teams to ensure new drivers transition successfully into their roles.
- Conduct onboarding sessions and driver orientation activities as needed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with new drivers to provide guidance, support, and encouragement.
Driver Engagement & Retention
- Lead initiatives focused on improving driver satisfaction, engagement, and long-term retention.
- Conduct regular check-ins with new and existing drivers to assess their experience and address concerns.
- Build strong relationships with drivers to identify opportunities for support, development, and career growth.
- Gather driver feedback and recommend improvements to onboarding, engagement, and retention programs.
- Support driver recognition initiatives that celebrate safety, performance, professionalism, and service excellence.
- Collaborate with leadership to foster a positive, inclusive, and driver-focused culture.
- Assist in implementing retention strategies that improve workforce stability and driver success.
Driver Performance Coaching
- Provide coaching and mentorship to help drivers achieve performance and service goals.
- Support drivers in developing strong customer service, safety, and operational skills.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with drivers to develop action plans.
- Encourage best practices that contribute to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Recognize driver achievements and reinforce positive performance behaviors.
- Serve as a resource for drivers seeking guidance, support, and professional development.
Workforce Planning & Analytics
- Monitor driver engagement, retention trends, and workforce needs.
- Track onboarding progress, coaching activities, and retention metrics.
- Prepare reports and provide updates to leadership regarding driver success and retention efforts.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance driver satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate driver records and documentation.
- Assist management with workforce planning and long-term driver development initiatives.
Collaboration & Leadership Support
- Partner closely with operations leaders, dispatch teams, training staff, and executive leadership to support driver success and retention goals.
- Build relationships with community organizations, workforce agencies, driving schools, colleges, and educational institutions.
- Support employer branding and driver engagement initiatives.
- Share best practices that strengthen driver development, engagement, and retention efforts.
- Serve as a trusted resource for drivers, managers, and leadership teams.
- Assist with training programs and talent development initiatives that support organizational growth.
Qualifications for a Driver Coach:
- Experience in transportation, driver management, training, employee relations, human resources, operations, coaching, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with CDL or non-CDL drivers is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and support individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of driver qualification requirements, transportation operations, and driver engagement best practices preferred.
