Position Overview

The Inventory Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency across all storage areas, including freezer, refrigerators, and dry storage. This role is responsible for ensuring proper product rotation, strict FIFO compliance, organization, and accurate inventory tracking within the inventory management system.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to coordinate effectively with Receiving, Production, and Picking teams to prevent product loss, resolve inventory discrepancies, and support seamless daily operations. This individual thrives in a fast-paced food production environment and takes pride in maintaining clean, organized, and efficient storage areas while supporting overall warehouse productivity.

Responsibilities

45% – Delivery Support & Customer Service

  • Ride along designated delivery routes and assist with delivering customer orders according to established schedules and Dispatch Routing Plans.

  • Unload and deliver products at client locations while ensuring product quality and order accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary point of communication regarding deliveries through the company communication system when the driver is unable to do so.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service during all delivery interactions.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of Sales Orders and loaded products to ensure delivery accuracy and readiness.
  • Verify that all products are properly loaded and secured for transport.
  • Assist in preparing delivery vehicles for daily routes.

30% – Order Loading & Verification

  • Read and interpret Sales Orders to accurately load daily deliveries for clients based on dispatch routing plans.

  • Accurately and efficiently pick orders, placing products into totes, boxes, and crates.
  • Verify order accuracy by inspecting products and matching items to Sales Order requirements.

10% – Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

  • Accurately identify and locate products to ensure the correct items are loaded and delivered.

  • Assist with inventory organization and stock management, returning items to storage when they are coming back from client sites.
  • Maintain clean and organized storage, staging, and loading areas

10% – Cleaning & End-of-Shift Responsibilities

  • Perform end-of-shift cleaning duties including trash and cardboard removal.

  • Sweep, clean, disinfect, and organize work areas.
  • Prepare warehouse and operational areas for the following day's activities.
  • Maintaining vehicles clean and ready for service at all times

5% – Safety, Compliance & Reporting

  • Comply with all company policies, safety regulations, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), operational procedures, and food safety guidelines.

  • Immediately notify the Dispatch Coordinator and/or manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while working indoors, outdoors, and in refrigerated environments averaging 30°F
