Driver

Our drivers transport individuals with disabilities to and from Humanim day programs, field trips (which may include DC or Annapolis), appointments, employment, and shopping. They maintain safety precautions that affect both the vehicle and the passengers. Applicants should be able to conduct scheduled runs in a timely manner and complete other duties as they are assigned.
We offer a Monday- Friday schedule.
  • Must have had a class C license for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Knowledge of Howard County and surrounding county roads desired.
  • Experience driving a 14-passenger van desired.
  • Must be able to participate in and pass all agency mandated training, including CPR, First Aid, and online exams.
  • Ability to relate well to staff and board members of different races, ethnicity, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and religions.
  • Background Check and Drug Screening required.
  • Ability to use cell phone and GPS.
A. Driving Duties
  • Drive vans to transport individuals with disabilities to and from Humanim’s day programs, field trips, employment, or appointments.
  • Maintain safety precautions that affect both the vehicle and the passengers.
  • Conduct scheduled runs in a timely manner starting at 7am.
  • Cross-training on other runs as instructed.
  • Coordinate with the office regarding incidents, issues, and no shows promptly.
  • Follow the cell phone and gasoline policies.
  • Complete all required training on time.
B. Vehicle Maintenance
  • Observe the van and do accurate maintenance checks.
  • Coordinate with the office and take the van for oil changes, emissions testing and repairs as needed.
  • Clean the vehicle as needed.
C. Teamwork
  • Participate in transportation meetings and special department training.
  • Participate in agency-wide events where appropriate.
  • Participate in the organization’s continuing learning on issues of racial equity and equity in general.
  • Ability to work well with individuals served, staff members from other departments and co-workers.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
