Job Title: Lorry Driver cum Catering Captain

Job Purpose

The Lorry Driver cum Catering Captain is responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of food, catering equipment, and supplies to customers, outlets, and event venues. The employee will also assist in coordinating catering operations, event setup, service, and clearing activities to ensure catering events are carried out smoothly and efficiently.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Driving & Transportation

  • Drive the company’s assigned lorry safely and responsibly for daily deliveries and catering operations.
  • Transport prepared food, catering equipment, supplies, utensils, tables, and other materials to event venues and customer locations.
  • Carry out scheduled deliveries and collections in a timely manner.
  • Load and unload food, catering equipment, and supplies safely.
  • Check delivery items against delivery orders and event requirements before departure.
  • Ensure food and catering items are handled properly during transportation.
  • Collect supplies, equipment, and other materials from suppliers and company locations when required.

2. Catering & Event Operations

  • Lead and assist the catering team during events, functions, buffets, and corporate catering services.
  • Coordinate the setup of buffet stations, tables, food warmers, utensils, beverages, and other catering equipment.
  • Ensure food and beverages are presented properly and the service area is clean and organised.
  • Brief and coordinate catering crew on their assigned duties during events.
  • Monitor the smooth running of catering service and attend to reasonable customer requests.
  • Assist with serving food and maintaining buffet stations when required.
  • Coordinate the dismantling and collection of catering equipment after events.
  • Ensure all company equipment and materials are accounted for and returned safely.

3. Vehicle & Equipment Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic daily checks on the assigned lorry, including tyres, lights, brakes, fuel, and general condition.
  • Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and suitable condition for catering operations.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements to the supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure catering equipment is handled, transported, and stored properly to prevent damage or loss.

4. Documentation & Coordination

  • Check and maintain delivery orders, event schedules, collection documents, and other relevant paperwork.
  • Record deliveries, collections, mileage, and vehicle usage where required.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen, operations, catering team, suppliers, and customers regarding delivery and event requirements.
  • Report any delivery, catering, equipment, or customer issues to the Operations Manager.

5. Food Safety & Workplace Safety

  • Follow company food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ensure food is transported and handled in a hygienic manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and catering equipment used for food transportation.
  • Comply with Singapore traffic laws and all applicable company safety requirements.

6. General Duties

  • Assist the operations and catering teams with daily logistics and operational activities.
  • Support the loading, unloading, setup, and clearing of catering equipment.
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Catering Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid Singapore driving licence appropriate for the assigned lorry.
  • Previous experience in lorry driving, catering, food service, logistics, or event operations is preferred.
  • Experience leading or coordinating a catering crew will be an advantage.
  • Familiar with Singapore roads and delivery locations.
  • Good understanding of workplace safety and food hygiene practices.
  • Physically fit and able to perform loading, unloading, setup, and clearing duties.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Responsible, punctual, reliable, and customer-oriented.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, early mornings, evenings, and overtime when required for catering events.

Working Conditions

The position involves regular travel between the company’s central kitchen, outlets, suppliers, customer premises, and event venues. The employee will perform both driving and hands-on catering duties and may be required to work according to catering schedules, including weekends, public holidays, and extended hours.
