Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Assets Manager, the Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for Commission staff, officials, and authorised visitors using the Commission vehicles. The Driver will ensure the timely delivery and collection of official documents, packages, correspondence, and other items while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and excellent customer service. The Driver will also provide administrative and operational support, including messenger services, banking transactions, purchasing errands, and assistance with the management, maintenance, and monitoring of the Commission’s vehicle fleet to ensure vehicles remain safe, clean, and fit for official use.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide safe, punctual, and professional transportation services for Commission staff, officials, and authorised persons to and from official engagements, meetings, and designated locations.
- Operate Commission vehicles in accordance with established policies, procedures, road safety regulations, and fleet management guidelines.
- Provide transportation support for diplomatic and official activities while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service.
- Collect, transport, and deliver official documents, correspondence, packages, cheques, payments, and other authorised items securely and within required timelines.
- Conduct authorised banking transactions and other official errands on behalf of the Commission as directed by the Finance Unit or other authorised personnel.
- Purchase office supplies and other approved items as requested by Commission staff.
- Use the Facilities Management software system to review assigned tasks, update work requests, and manage daily assignments to ensure timely completion and closure of requests.
- Assist with the offloading, transportation, and delivery of supplies, equipment, and materials required for Commission operations.
- Plan travel routes efficiently, maintain knowledge of local routes and destinations, and ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate daily mileage records, fuel usage, and vehicle-related information for review by the Assets Manager.
- Conduct routine checks of assigned vehicles and promptly report defects, mechanical issues, or maintenance requirements to the Assets Manager.
- Ensure that vehicles are submitted for insurance renewal prior to the renewal date.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition at all times.
- Review and sign off on completed vehicle cleaning services.
- Assist with the daily distribution and collection of files, correspondence, and other administrative documents.
- Support fleet management activities, including vehicle scheduling, service reminders, inspection requirements, and compliance with Commission vehicle policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information, documents, passengers, and official assignments.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably within a corporate, government, diplomatic, or similar environment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence with an E endorsement held for at least five (5) years, with demonstrated experience operating minibuses and transporting passengers safely and professionally.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations, defensive driving practices, vehicle care, and basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Minimum of five (5) CXC passes or equivalent qualifications.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to send and receive emails and complete basic administrative tasks.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organisational skills, punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, based on the operational needs of the Commission.
- Proven experience driving CD (Corps Diplomatique) vehicles or working in an environment requiring a strong understanding of diplomatic protocols, confidentiality, and professional conduct would be an asset.

JOB LOCATION
The OECS Commission is headquartered in Castries, Saint Lucia. The position of Driver is located at the OECS Commission headquarters.
