We're working with an established Australian digital delivery partner working on significant government and enterprise platforms. These are the kind of digital services Australians rely on every day to access information, engage with agencies and interact with the organisations they depend on.

We're looking for an experienced, technically curious Solution Architect to own the integrity of the whole solution across our most complex programs. The role As Solution Architect you'll design secure, scalable, sustainable and supportable solutions across the full delivery lifecycle, from presales and discovery, through solution shaping, implementation and delivery assurance, to operational transition.

You'll work where business needs, user experience and technology meet, turning complex requirements into practical architecture. You'll set and own the overall solution direction, while Technical Leads, Practice Leads and specialists own the detailed design of their own components (Drupal applications, frontend, cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, security controls and operational services), and you'll make sure it all holds together as one coherent solution.
This is a technical leadership role with no direct reports. You'll influence through credibility, not command.

What you'll do

• Lead solution architecture for complex government and enterprise digital projects, platforms, programs and proposals
• Define architecture across applications, integrations, data, cloud, DevOps, security and operational services, with Drupal at the core
• Act as the technical authority in discovery workshops, tenders, solution presentations and architecture reviews
• Produce clear, usable architecture documentation: solution designs, context, component, integration, deployment, data flow and security views, and architectural decision records
• Build security, privacy and compliance in from the outset, aligned to relevant Australian Government frameworks (ISM, Essential Eight where applicable)
• Guide Technical Leads and specialists, resolve design conflicts across domains, and keep non functional requirements traceable through delivery
• Help shape AI enabled solutions and ensure emerging AI services meet architecture, security and AI governance expectations
• Represent the business as a credible technical authority throughout proposals and delivery

Essential

• Australian citizen, currently residing in Australia
• An active Baseline security clearance
• Demonstrated Drupal architecture and delivery experience on complex platforms, covering configuration, content modelling, module selection, integration and deployment
• Proven government delivery experience (Commonwealth or state), including familiarity with government digital, accessibility, security and assurance requirements
• Proven track record as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or equivalent senior technical role
• Experience leading overall solution architecture across multiple technical domains
• Strong grounding in software architecture, system design, integration patterns, APIs, data flows and distributed systems
• Experience designing secure, scalable, resilient, maintainable and supportable solutions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non technical audiences
• The ability to lead and influence outcomes without direct line management authority
• Sound judgement to make architectural decisions with incomplete information, and to balance technical excellence with commercial and delivery realities

Nice to have

• Full lifecycle experience, from presales through to operational transition, within a digital agency, consultancy or professional services setting
• Frontend technologies (Vue, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS) and decoupled or progressively decoupled Drupal
• Cloud native architecture (particularly AWS), DevOps, CI/CD, container platforms and infrastructure as code
• Open data platforms and other emerging government technology approaches
• AI enabled solutions, including generative AI, AI service integration, responsible AI and AI governance
• High traffic, high availability or event driven platforms; performance engineering, resilience and disaster recovery
• Security, privacy or compliance frameworks; enterprise architecture and formal architecture governance
• ITIL; a relevant degree; or industry certifications in Drupal, architecture, cloud, security or DevOps
