Duty Engineer

Summary

Perform daily inspections and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems in a hotel, respond to guest and staff requests, and maintain safety and energy standards.

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Ensure the hotel premises, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, are in good working order.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Support the implementation of the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor energy usage and assist in energy conservation initiatives.
  • Respond to emergencies such as power failures, equipment breakdowns, and safety hazards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and servicing.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and policies.
  • Assist in supervising maintenance staff or technicians, if required during shifts.
  • Participate in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Diploma or certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Good knowledge of building systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations.
