DVP/VP Property Underwriting Central Team

Role Overview:

We are hiring a Senior Property Underwriter for the Central Team of a leading General Insurance Company. This role involves driving technical underwriting excellence and profitable growth of the property insurance portfolio, with a focus on risk selection, pricing discipline and portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial and industrial property risks within the company underwriting framework.

- Assess risk inspection reports, loss history, exposures and risk mitigation measures to determine appropriate pricing, coverage and terms.

- Manage a large property portfolio, monitoring profitability, loss ratios, exposure accumulation and business mix.

- Support underwriting guidelines, referral decisions and consistent technical practices across regional teams.

- Collaborate with risk engineering, claims, reinsurance and business teams on complex proposals and renewals.

- Engage with brokers and key stakeholders to support sustainable business growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.

- Ensure adherence to internal underwriting controls, documentation standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile:

- 10 - 20 years of relevant experience in property underwriting within the general insurance industry.

- Proven experience managing large portfolios and complex property risks.

- Strong knowledge of property insurance coverage, policy wordings, pricing and risk assessment.

- Sound analytical judgment, commercial understanding and stakeholder management skills.

- Exposure to central underwriting functions and technical guidance of regional teams would be an advantage.
