Overview:

  • The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is seeking a Technical Support Analyst 3 to provide onsite desktop, technical, hardware, software, network, and end-user support.
  • The position will primarily support the Puller Veterans Care Center (PVCC), a medical facility in Warrenton, Virginia.
  • The facility is expected to support approximately 200 IT devices, including desktops, laptops, phones, printers, and mobile devices.
  • The position will also provide occasional technical support to remote DVS Veterans Benefits offices throughout Northern Virginia and the Front Royal area.
  • This is a 100% onsite position with no exceptions.
  • Some travel, up to approximately 20%, may be required to support regional DVS benefits offices.

Job Description:

  • Provide onsite technical support for the Department of Veterans Services Puller Veterans Care Center in Warrenton, Virginia.
  • Independently provide IT administration and technical support for agency-specific hardware and software systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Android and Apple mobile devices.
  • Support Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, antivirus software, and other business applications.
  • Provide application installation, administration, troubleshooting, and end-user training.
  • Support LAN/WAN environments and troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related network concepts.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, wireless access points, and related network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot desktop and laptop hardware, operating systems, software applications, mobile devices, and telephone systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot analog and digital phone systems.
  • Provide support for email applications, including Google Suite, PST files, calendars, distribution lists, and related functionality.
  • Monitor network and computer system performance and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  • Maintain IT inventory records and support ticketing and reporting processes.
  • Track end-user support activities through the applicable ticketing system.
  • Document system changes, technical issues, solutions, procedures, and training materials.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and promptly report security incidents.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to end users, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide occasional onsite support to regional DVS Veterans Benefits offices as needed.
  • Travel to designated DVS locations using personal transportation when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite technical support for desktops, laptops, peripherals, mobile devices, applications, phones, and network equipment.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IT hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, web browsers, antivirus software, and business applications.
  • Support Android and Apple mobile devices.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and common network protocols and services.
  • Support email applications, calendars, distribution lists, PST files, and related services.
  • Support analog and digital telephone systems.
  • Maintain IT inventory and ticketing records.
  • Monitor and document system performance and technical issues.
  • Identify and report security vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Create clear technical documentation, procedures, training materials, and knowledge resources.
  • Provide IT training and technical guidance to end users.
  • Resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with DVS IT management, vendors, and support teams when escalation is required.
  • Provide occasional travel-based support to Northern Virginia and Front Royal area DVS offices.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused, and team-oriented approach.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with McAfee Anti-Virus Software, Adobe Acrobat, and other commercial business software products.
  • 3+ years of experience providing basic IT presentation setup and support using related equipment and software.
  • 3+ years of experience setting up, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting PC desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and related peripheral devices.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365, Internet web browsers, antivirus software, and other business applications.
  • 3+ years of experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting mobile devices.
  • 3+ years of experience with IT inventory control and reporting.
  • 3+ years of experience providing IT staff or end-user training in person or through electronic media.
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and troubleshooting analog and digital phone systems.
  • 3+ years of experience installing, administering, troubleshooting, and providing training for computer applications.
  • 3+ years of experience providing professional customer support and communicating effectively with customers, team members, and support vendors.
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues and using available resources to assess and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • 3+ years of experience creating clear technical documentation covering technical issues, solutions, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN environments, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related network concepts.
  • Working knowledge of network and IT security.
  • Experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Experience documenting system changes, updating training and system documentation, and creating procedures for technical solutions.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Professional and courteous attitude when working with customers, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical activities, including standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable personal transportation for required business travel.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Warrenton, VA with no exceptions.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 20% to Northern Virginia and Front Royal area locations when required.
  • Must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the State Police of Virginia background check.

Benefits

Compensation:

  • Pay Rate: $30–$50/hour.
  • Contract Type: 1099 Contract.
  • Maximum Candidate Rate: $50/hour.
  • Benefits: No benefits are provided with this 1099 Contract role.
  • Vendor Maximum Submittal Rate: $63.48/hour.
  • Travel Expenses: Required business travel will be reimbursed directly by the agency.

Schedule:

  • Full-time contract assignment from October 5, 2026 through March 12, 2027.
  • Assignment duration is approximately 5 months, with extension possible.
  • Work arrangement is 100% onsite from Day 1 with no exceptions.
  • Some travel, up to approximately 20%, may be required to support regional DVS benefits offices in Northern Virginia and the Front Royal area.
  • Required business travel expenses, including mileage and lodging when applicable, will be reimbursed directly by the agency.
