Position Summary:
The Early Childhood Intern serves alongside the Early Childhood Director and ministry team to support the development and execution of a safe, engaging, and Spirit-led environment for young children. This role exists to help create meaningful experiences where children can learn about Jesus, experience the love of God, and begin building a strong biblical foundation.
The Early Childhood Intern will assist with weekly ministry operations, worship experiences, curriculum preparation, special events, volunteer support, and the overall care of children and families. As well, partnering with families to help children become lifelong followers of Jesus through creative, engaging, and excellent Kids Ministry.
This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in children's ministry while learning to serve with excellence, build relationships, and contribute to the vision and values of Westover Hills Church.

Key Responsibilities:
Weekly Ministry Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing small group lessons, curriculum, crafts, games, and classroom activities.
- Prepare and organize supplies for weekend services.
- Distribute curriculum and supplies to Preschool and Nursery teams.
- Assist with preparing sermon supplies, slides, and other weekend materials.
- Help prepare the Learning Center.
- Assist with first-time guest follow-up, including preparing postcards.
- Help organize ministry supplies and resources.
- Assist with Planning Center (PCO) updates as assigned.
- Complete assigned administrative and ministry projects.
Weekend Ministry Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up Preschool and Nursery environments before services.
- Support pre-service programming and media needs.
- Assist teachers, small group leaders, and volunteers.
- Welcome and connect with children and families.
- Help create a welcoming and engaging environment for every child.
- Assist with classroom flow, transitions, and activities.
- Help ensure leaders and volunteers have the supplies and information they need.
- Assist with room cleanup and resetting environments after services.
- Support the Early Childhood Director and ministry leaders with weekend responsibilities.
Leadership and Discipleship Responsibilities
- Participate in assigned mentoring and leadership development opportunities.
- Complete assigned reading, book discussions, devotionals, and other development activities.
- Participate in intern meetings and discussions.
- Assist with the development of teen leaders and other emerging leaders as assigned.
- Receive feedback and actively apply what is learned.
- Take initiative and accept additional responsibilities as assigned.
Event Responsibilities
- Assist with Kids Ministry, Family Ministry, and church-wide events.
- Support event setup, decorating, registration, activities, hospitality, and teardown.
- Assist with event logistics and supplies as needed.
