Early Intervention Special Ed Teacher

JAWONIO is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide Early Intervention Developmental Group services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. The ideal candidate will deliver family-centered educational support, conduct informal developmental assessments, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help children achieve developmental milestones through evidence-based intervention strategies.

This role requires effective communication skills, creativity, and the ability to build supportive relationships with children and families in both home and clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning & Instruction

  • Develop and implement individualized educational and developmental plans based on evaluations, observations, and IFSP goals.
  • Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to meet each child’s developmental and learning needs within the Group Developmental Model.
  • Create engaging, age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, sensory, motor, and social-emotional development.

Family Support

  • Educate and support families on strategies that encourage continued skill development within the home environment.
  • Foster positive partnerships with caregivers to promote consistency and progress via use of communication by phone or through class dojo app

Assessments & Documentation

  • Conduct informal developmental assessments and ongoing evaluations to track progress and identify areas requiring additional support.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including daily session notes, semi-annual progress reports, and educational records.

IFSP Participation & Team Collaboration

  • Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings and contribute to goal development and service planning.
  • Collaborate with therapists and service coordinators to ensure coordinated care.
  • Communicate regularly with interdisciplinary team members regarding student progress and service recommendations.

Classroom & Developmental Support

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support children with daily living and self-care activities, including feeding, dressing, toileting, and transitions when needed.
  • Utilize positive behavioral and developmental support strategies appropriate for early childhood learners.

Leadership & Administrative Support

  • Provide ongoing guidance and annual performance appraisals to classroom support staff.
  • Assist with staff training, classroom coordination, and program operations.
  • Maintain educational materials, classroom equipment, and learning resources.
