Echocardiography Technologist
Summary
Performs echocardiograms, explains procedures to patients, and processes imaging data to support cardiac diagnostics in a hospital setting.
Position Objective:
Performs echocardiographic procedures, using special equipment, to measure, calculate, and report pertinent patient data to facilitate accurate diagnostic outcome.

- Conducts Echocardiograms as requested throughout the Medical Center, including all patient rooms and emergency room.
- Explains procedure to patients, providing instructions and direct care to ensure accuracy and patient comfort.
- Assesses data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient requirement.
- Recognizes artifacts, eliminates probable sources and troubleshoots minor equipment problems.
- Consistently meets department standards for RVUs while maintaining quality work.
- Processes images acquired from different modalities according to establish policies and procedures.
- Performs data entry as it relates to procedures including charges pick lists, logbook, and schedule related functions to ensure corporate compliance.
- Practices radiation safety and ensures that other staff, and students are compliant.
- Obtains pertinent clinical data adequately as it relates to procedures performed.
- Analyzes, processes, and reports outcomes in a timely manner
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of accredited Echo course. Certification or 3 years of experience with specialized training in Echocardiology with ability to perform, measure, and preliminary interpret echocardiographic studies.
Required License/Certifications:
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification must be obtained within 90-days from date of hire.
