Job Summary

Oxford Economics, a leading global economic research and consulting firm, is seeking an Economist to join our Asia Macro Consulting team. Based in Oxford Economics’ Singapore office, the unit is responsible for a wide range of macro consulting projects in Asia. The position will report to the Associate Director of Asia Macro Consulting.

The position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team and develop experience across macro consulting projects in the region. The role will involve supporting client work, contributing to project delivery, and developing skills in proposal writing, analysis, and client support. The position may also involve client contact and occasional travel within the region to support project delivery.

In the past 12 months, the team has delivered a range of projects related to: (1) the development of custom trade models, (2) modelling the impacts of trade policies and tariffs for major MNEs, (3) publishing thought-leadership reports for public audiences on topics such as FDI, climate change, and carbon markets, and (4) writing reports for the prime minister’s office of an emerging country on its macroeconomic prospects and key policy strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting a range of macro consultancy projects for clients in Asia.

• Contributing to proposals and client pitches.

• Supporting the production of ad-hoc scenarios for clients.

• Supporting the sales team where required.

• Responding to client queries with guidance from senior team members.

• Supporting project delivery across the Asia region, with occasional travel possible.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Strong academic education in Economics at postgraduate level.

• Some experience using applied macroeconomic models for forecasting and/or scenario analysis.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

• Ability to work effectively in teams across different offices and to tight deadlines.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Interest in developing consulting, proposal writing, and project management skills.
