We’re seeking an experienced infrastructure engineer to help manage and improve a distributed Linux and container platform. You’ll contribute to the platform roadmap and help make edge infrastructure secure, reliable, scalable and straightforward for engineering teams to use.
The role You’ll work across engineering and operations, supporting the lifecycle of Linux and OpenShift environments across edge locations and hybrid cloud platforms. The focus is on treating infrastructure as a product: automating how it is built, deployed, patched and maintained.
You will:
- Contribute to the platform roadmap for Linux and Red Hat OpenShift deployments at the edge.
- Help teams transition from legacy architectures to modern, container-based environments.
- Make edge environments consumable through automation using Terraform, Ansible and GitOps.
- Own CI/CD pipelines for image builds, automated testing and fleet-wide patching.
- Work with security teams to turn requirements such as CIS benchmarks into automated engineering improvements.
- Use monitoring and reporting data to identify issues across the fleet and prioritise fixes that reduce operational effort.
- At least 7 years’ experience in IT infrastructure or software engineering, including 2–3 years in a product environment or technical architecture role focused on edge computing or container platforms.
- Deep knowledge of Linux, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Scripting experience with Bash, Python or Go.
- Hands-on experience with distributed edge deployments, container runtimes and hybrid control planes.
- Experience using Terraform, Ansible and GitOps approaches such as ArgoCD to move teams from manual configuration to code-based deployments.
- The ability to balance application teams’ need for speed with security and operations requirements.
- Experience using telemetry to inform platform decisions and JIRA to manage backlogs, feature requests and technical debt.
- Experience integrating security practices such as vulnerability scanning and policy-as-code into deployment pipelines.
