Education Research Scientist

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is among the world’s top education institutes, recognised for its excellence in teacher education and educational research. An autonomous institute situated within the research-intensive Nanyang Technological University, NIE is consistently ranked within the top 15 in the world for research impact in the field of Education.
The Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD) was established in 2017 with funding from the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE). Hosted at the National Institute of Education (NIE), CRCD conducts studies focusing on factors that influence the course of development from infancy through middle childhood.
We invite applications for the position of Education Research Scientist at CRCD. The Centre is interested in candidates with expertise in:
- Testing, measurement, or psychometrics, with applications in quantitative psychology and child development
Candidates with appropriate qualifications and relevant research experience are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant discipline, such as child development, developmental psychology, early childhood education, educational technology, or a related field.
- At least two years of postdoctoral research experience, with demonstrated scholarly independence.
- Expertise in longitudinal data analysis, psychometric and measurement methodologies, or large-scale assessments is highly advantageous.
- A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, supported by citation metrics and journal rankings.
- Experience in conceptualising and writing research proposals, and securing competitive grant funding.
- Proven leadership ability in managing research teams and projects.
- Evidence of independent research contributions, including first- or senior-author publications and invited academic presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in spoken and written English), with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- A demonstrated commitment to research translation, particularly in relation to educational practice and/or technology-enhanced learning.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement the centre’s research programme.
- Take a leading role in the development of research projects and programmes and in seeking and pursuing appropriate external funding.
- Disseminate the outcomes of research in peer-reviewed publications of international standing.
- Support CRCD in its efforts to impact practice and policy through research projects and programmes.
- Manage and conduct administrative and management tasks associated with research or programme.
- Participate in research of strategic importance to CRCD and NIE Participate in the wider research and service activities of CRCD and NIE.
