About Winthrop Australia

At Winthrop Australia, we're passionate about helping schools get the very best from technology. For more than 30 years we've partnered with schools across Western Australia, delivering innovative Apple and Microsoft solutions that empower educators, support students and simplify technology management.

Our team believes technology should be reliable, intuitive and enable better learning outcomes not create additional complexity. Whether we're supporting a single classroom or an entire school, we're committed to building trusted relationships and delivering exceptional service.

The Role

We're looking for an Education Technology Support Engineer to join our growing team in Perth.

In this role, you'll become a trusted technology partner to the schools you support, helping create reliable, engaging, and effective learning environments. You'll work closely with teachers, school leaders, and IT teams to ensure technology empowers teaching and learning, not hinders it.

No two days are the same. You could be deploying and managing Apple devices, supporting Windows environments, troubleshooting networks and cloud services, administering Microsoft 365, assisting with cybersecurity initiatives, or helping staff get the most from their classroom technology.

As a key member of our team, you'll provide both proactive and reactive support, building strong relationships with clients while delivering practical solutions to technical challenges. You'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of technologies and develop your skills in modern device management, cloud platforms, networking, and educational technology.

If you're passionate about technology, enjoy solving problems, thrive on variety, and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note: This role supports Apple-based school environments. Applicants must have hands-on experience supporting macOS and iPadOS in a business or education setting. Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows, mobile device management (MDM), networking, and end-user support will be highly regarded.

What Success Looks Like

During your first six months you will:

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with the schools and stakeholders you support, becoming their go-to technology partner.

  • Confidently manage and resolve a wide range of onsite and remote support requests across Apple, Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, and classroom technology environments.

  • Develop a strong understanding of Winthrop's systems, processes, tools, and service delivery standards.

  • Take ownership of support issues, delivering timely solutions and maintaining a high standard of customer service.

  • Contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication, technical expertise, and a customer-first approach.

  • Successfully support device deployments, classroom technology initiatives, and day-to-day operational requirements within schools.

  • Continuously expand your technical knowledge through mentoring, professional development, certifications, and hands-on experience.

  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, consultants, and colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team culture.

  • Demonstrate increasing independence, confidence, and technical capability while supporting a diverse range of education technology environments.

  • Become a valued and trusted member of both the Winthrop team and the school communities you support.

By six months, you'll be recognised as a reliable technology partner who helps schools get the best from their technology, enabling staff and students to focus on teaching and learning.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite and remote technical support across Apple, Windows, Microsoft 365, cloud services, networking, servers and security platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while keeping clients informed with clear and timely communication.

  • Manage support requests through ConnectWise, ensuring accurate documentation, time recording and follow-up.

  • Develop a strong understanding of Winthrop's support processes, systems and service methodology.

  • Build trusted relationships with teachers, school leadership and ICT staff.

  • Assist with deployments, upgrades, maintenance and proactive technology improvements.

  • Deliver one-on-one guidance and occasional training to teachers and school staff.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles and client guides.

  • Ensure client environments remain compliant with relevant security policies and education requirements.

  • Work independently while collaborating closely with the wider engineering and professional services teams.

You'll gain experience working with a broad range of technologies, including:

  • Apple technologies including macOS, iPadOS, Apple School Manager, and Managed Apple Accounts
