Key Responsibilities
1. Drive awareness and accountability for environmental, health and safety performance through all levels of the site.
2. Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health.
3. Promote and participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training.
4. Lead plant incident and plant non-conformance investigations, determine appropriate corrective actions and preventative actions, and ensure closure of actions. Reapply key learnings and recommendations from global incidents as applicable.
5. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response activities
6. Lead internal and external inspections of the facility to assess and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, insurance and internal safety requirements
7. Maintain ISO compliant safety and environmental compliance records, including OSHA Logs and Permit Requirements
8. Develop, create, track, and deliver safety training to employees as required, including coordination of new hire and external regulatory training.
9. Effectively interact with all internal functional job levels and with external agencies and resources in order to maximize the effectiveness of the safety improvement process
10. Conduct facility audits to identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures. Oversee Safety Concerns and Near Misses reported by employees to ensure completion.
11. Create/review/implement Policies, Risk Assessments, SOPs and work instructions related to EHS in support of Berry EHS Program and Regulatory Requirements
12. Oversee the Management of Change (MOC)/Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR) program. Partner with project leads to provide EHS input into project planning.
13. Provide regular EHS reports to management; identify leading and lagging indicator trends by analyzing near miss, workplace observation, corrective action preventive action (CAPA), and injury/illness data. Recommend corrective actions as determined.
14. Approve new chemical purchases and maintain SDS sheets, Hazard Communication program and environmental reporting.
15. Provide Front Line Leaders with Safety Topics for Daily, Weekly and Monthly EHS meetings/talks.
16. Assist in management of Contractor Management Program at the location
17. Assist in the administration of the Workers Compensation Program
18. Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Director, VP of Operations or Regional/Corporate EHS leadership.
19. Maintain and increase professional knowledge and expertise related to the fields of environmental protection, occupational health, and industrial safety through annual professional development
20. Ability to travel 0-25% of the time.

22. Willingness and ability to provide 24/7 on call support for emergencies.
