EHS Coordinator

Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connections, management systems, and high-performance below-grade vaults.

JOB SUMMARY:

The EHS Coordinator will partner directly with site Operations leaders to drive EHS ownership and accountability. This role is an entry level role where the ability to learn applicable regulations, to perform root cause analysis, and an ability to work independently in high-risk manufacturing or operational environments. This position is a critical partnership between the Operations team and the EHS team to cultivate a behavior-based safety culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Training & Compliance: Assist with administering site-wide mandatory safety training programs to maintain regulatory compliance. Ensure all full-time, temporary, and transferred employees receive comprehensive safety onboarding and refresher training.
• Incident Management & Investigation: Support investigations for injuries, occupational illnesses, and near-miss occurrences. Analyze root causes, track corrective actions, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses from initial injury through full return-to-work.
• Risk Assessment & Hazard Control: Assist with thorough risk assessments of facility operations, machinery, and equipment to identify hazards, mitigate risk, and establish control measures.
• EHS Inspections: Perform routine facility, equipment, and workflow inspections to identify and resolve potential safety violations or operational hazards.
• Procedure Development: Assist with equipment-specific Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Safe Work Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Reporting & Data Tracking: Compile metric reports, present actionable safety recommendations to the safety team, and maintain precise OSHA and company safety records.
• Emergency Response & First Aid: Serve as an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and provide First Aid/CPR assistance as needed.
• Safety Committee Leadership: Participate in and assist with technical guidance to the Safety Committee to foster a proactive safety culture.
• EHS Culture & Environment: Promote a safe, clean, and orderly work environment while supporting site-wide risk management programs and strategies.
• Other various H&S related activities assigned by site the H&S Team.

ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

• Must learn OSHA and EPA standards
• Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules
• Must obtain Aid/CPR/AED certification ASAP
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
