Summary:
As the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at Pentagon, you will be responsible for leading the BSAFE safety program and ensuring its compliance throughout the company. This includes meeting all requirements at federal, state, and local city levels. You will also spearhead safety improvement initiatives across all sites and communicate EHS performance to the leadership team. Your primary objective will be to sustain a proactive and secure workforce at the Pentagon.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes but is not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Lead the development and successful implementation of a standardized safety organization that encompasses a fiscal year safety plan, training, emergency response procedures and environmental regulatory compliance to reduce knowledge gaps and enhance performance.
- Support HR, Regional Director of Operations, and our corporate legal team with the management of worker compensation cases & work with insurance carriers to improve EMR rating of Pentagon
- Define safety objectives for new hires during orientation, to cultivate and promote a safe and positive work culture
- Build KPIs for measuring the effectiveness of the safety programs and organizational culture and report results to management
- Implement risk assessment strategies and processes to identify potential workplace injuries, hazards and environmental violations to mitigate risk within the workplace
- Ensure EHS requirements for contractors, suppliers and all external visitors on-site conform to company safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations. Set and monitor permit processing, safety regulations, including local, state and federal laws
- Maintain and facilitate relationships with local regulatory agents, property management and respond to any concerns they may have related to building permitting, planned facility maintenance and/or new city regulations
- Conduct risk assessments on facilities, equipment and operations processes, investigations and workplace inspections and provide monthly status reports to management team monthly
- Promotes a culture of safety and awareness, collaborating with both leadership and employees
- Manage the budget for all health and safety programs
