EHS Program Manager

Summary

Oversee health and safety programs for Uber’s MEA operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and integrating best practices into regional workflows.

The Health and Safety (H&S) team is part of the Ethics, Compliance, and Security organization at Uber, responsible for ensuring the company keeps employees safe and does the right thing, period. The H&S team is responsible for ensuring employees' safety and well-being throughout their employment.

About the Role:

The MEA Program Manager is responsible for operationalizing H&S initiatives, ensuring the integration of H&S best practices into regional operations, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements in alignment with global H&S strategies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead programs and initiatives to reduce H&S incidents, manage H&S risks, and promote H&S compliance within the operational framework;
  • Implement H&S management systems, ensuring they meet the regional specifics while aligning with global objectives;
  • Serve as the primary H&S operational contact providing expertise and support to facility leaders to achieve H&S objectives;
  • Collaborate with H&S Specialists and other H&S professionals to develop and roll out region-specific H&S solutions that align with corporate standards.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of H&S professionals across the regions, ensuring clear communication and the sharing of best practices.
  • Work with third-party FM providers on the implementation and adherence to Uber’s global standards and expectations;
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with the contractor’s operations to ensure they adhere to Uber’s standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate with People Operations and Human Resources on any Workplace accommodations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an H&S role, preferably in the corporate sector.
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Certified to practice as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer as per Egyptian regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and drive results in a complex organizational environment.
  • Prior experience in a tech environment.
