Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW

We are a defense technology company building next-generation systems engineered for manufacturability, scalability, and rapid deployment. Manufacturing isn't simply a function of our business it's a core competitive advantage. The technologies we develop have the potential to redefine modern defense, and delivering on that mission requires world-class production capabilities at speed and scale.

Operating in stealth mode, we've raised more than $250 million in funding and are investing aggressively to expand our global manufacturing footprint, accelerate production capacity, and build the infrastructure needed to deliver mission-critical capabilities to customers around the world.

To achieve this vision, we've assembled a world-class leadership team of proven operators across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and operations. As we enter our next phase of growth and prepare to emerge from stealth, we're looking for exceptional leaders who are eager to build, scale, and leave a lasting impact on the future of defense technology.

THE ROLE

As Covenant continues the setup and ramp-up of our advanced manufacturing facility in Leipzig, we are seeking a dedicated and proactive EHS Specialist / Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa). In this role, you will be officially appointed under § 5 ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2 to take end-to-end ownership of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance across our plant.

You will work closely with leadership, engineering, and shopfloor teams to establish an uncompromising "Safety First" culture, translate German statutory mandates into practical workflows, and ensure a safe, compliant, and ergonomic working environment from day one of production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Culture & Training: Establish, promote, and drive a proactive "Safety First" mindset across all levels; design and conduct mandatory employee safety briefings, onboarding modules, and specialized safety awareness campaigns.
  • Statutory Compliance & Advisory: Serve as the designated occupational safety specialist in accordance with § 5 ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2; advise plant management and operational teams on fulfilling requirements under ArbSchG, ASiG, ArbStättV, BetrSichV, and relevant DGUV accident prevention regulations.
  • Facility & Equipment Evaluation: Review facility layouts, shopfloor zoning, automated production lines, electrical installations, and machinery to ensure full adherence to German workplace ordinances (ArbStättV) and industrial safety directives (BetrSichV).
  • Workplace Risk Assessments: Lead and coordinate cross-departmental workplace risk assessments (Gefährdungsbeurteilungen); systematically identify hazards, define preventative and corrective measures (TOP principle), and monitor their long-term effectiveness.
  • Inspections & Incident Management: Plan and execute regular workplace safety inspections and safety committee meetings (ASA); lead thorough accident and near-miss investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Management Systems & Audits: Support the implementation, continuous improvement, and audit readiness of the plant’s integrated management systems (ISO 45001 and ISO 9001); maintain comprehensive safety documentation, metrics, and authority reporting.

Requirements

  • Official SiFa Qualification: Officially recognized certification as Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa) in accordance with § 7 ASiG and DGUV Vorschrift 2.
  • Technical Education: Degree in Engineering, certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker), Master Craftsman (Industriemeister), or a legally recognized equivalent pathway under German safety legislation.
  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth, practical knowledge of German health and safety laws and technical rules, including ArbSchG, ASiG, ArbStättV, BetrSichV, TRBS, and DGUV regulations.
  • Shopfloor Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on safety experience in industrial manufacturing environments, ideally involving machinery, electrical systems, automation, or industrial facility ramp-ups.
  • Standards & Audits: Working knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management), including practical process integration and audit preparation.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent German and Good English.

The Ideal Candidate

A hands-on, pragmatic safety professional who spends time on the production floor rather than behind a desk. You possess the authority and communication skills to influence behavior, coach teams constructively, and bridge the gap between strict legal compliance and agile industrial manufacturing.
