EHS Specialist
Summary
Field EHS Specialist ensures workplace safety and environmental compliance in oilfield operations by conducting inspections, risk assessments, and training while supporting drilling and production activities in South Texas.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Field EHS Specialist reports to the Field EHS Supervisor and plays a key role in supporting field operations by fostering a proactive safety culture, supporting compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and implementing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives. This position partners closely with operations personnel, supervisors, and contractors to identify and mitigate risks, prevent incidents, and promote continuous improvement in EHS performance. The Field EHS Specialist provides guidance, training, and field support to promote safe work practices, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence across all activities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day-to-day EHS support to field operations, including drilling, completions, and production activities.
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible field presence, coaching, leadership, and employee engagement.
- Conduct routine field inspections, audits, safety observations, and hazard assessments to identify risks and verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and pre-job hazard reviews to support safe work execution.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development, and follow-up to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and assess compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards and company EHS policies and procedures.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, programs, and management systems.
- Delivery recurring safety meetings, new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions for employees and contractors.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and verify alignment with company expectations, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with environmental compliance efforts, including emissions monitoring, reporting, spill prevention, waste management, and regulatory requirements such as OOOO compliance.
- Perform or coordinate inspections and testing of safety-critical equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency response equipment, and other required safety systems.
- Assist with emergency response planning, preparedness activities, drills, and incident response efforts.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, reports, records, permits, inspections, and compliance-related data.
- Track, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, and leading indicators to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Verify corrective actions identified through inspections, audits, and incident investigations are effectively implemented and sustained.
- Serve as a trusted EHS resource for field personnel, providing guidance, support, and solutions to promote safe and environmentally responsible operations.
- Use appropriate safety equipment and comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Follow surface safety equipment guidelines and report equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain positive, respectful working relationships across all teams.

- Perform additional duties and special projects assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
