EKT is a two-week summer program at SUN schools that offers children and families a jump-start into a successful kindergarten year. The program focuses on academics, play, arts & music, exploration and developing friendships in an inclusive and joyful classroom. The program has two components: a two-week program for incoming kindergarten students, and provides family education sessions that are required. EKT partners with SUN and Multnomah Co. The role of EA assists the teacher in all aspects of the program, works with small groups and individual students and helps with recruitment efforts.
