Electric Bike Mechanic

MOD BIKES is looking for a Full-Time E-Bike Mechanic to join our Garage team in Austin, TX. If you love working with your hands, take pride in quality workmanship, and have a passion for bikes — especially electric ones — this is your shot to be part of a fast-growing company shaping the future of urban transportation. You'll perform maintenance, tune-ups, repairs, and full bike assemblies alongside a supportive team, making sure every bike that leaves our shop is road-ready and every customer interaction reflects our commitment to real service.

We're looking for a skilled, detail-oriented bike mechanic to join our Garage team — someone who takes real pride in their work and wants to grow with a company that's still building its playbook. E-bike experience is a big plus, but a strong mechanical foundation and a genuine willingness to learn our systems matters just as much.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electric bikes, including tune-ups, drivetrain and brake adjustments, and general troubleshooting

• Assemble and tune new e-bikes to ensure optimal performance and safety

• Perform safety checks, inspections, and diagnostics on incoming bikes

• Maintain the MOD demo fleet so bikes are always ride-ready

• Assist with bike packing and shipping as needed

• Support the sales team with test ride prep and light bike adjustments

• Keep the workshop clean and organized and make sure tools and equipment are properly cared for

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience as a bike mechanic (e-bike experience a plus)

• Strong working knowledge of drivetrain systems, brake systems (mechanical & hydraulic), and bike assembly

• Attention to detail and a real commitment to quality and safety

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to lift and maneuver e-bikes (up to 75 lbs)

• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed

• Basic computer skills — comfort with tools like Shopify, Slack, or Freshdesk a plus

Bonus Points For

• Experience working with e-bike systems such as Shimano, Bafang, or Bosch

• Bilingual (Spanish-English)

• General handyman skills — basic welding or light woodworking

What We Offer

• Competitive pay based on experience

• Medical, dental, and vision coverage

• Paid time off (PTO)

• Employee discounts on bikes and accessories

• A dynamic, supportive team that values hard work, learning, and fun

• Real opportunities for promotion, as MOD BIKES grows, so does the Garage team, and we'd rather grow our own than hire from outside

• A long-term career, not just a job, room to build real skill and grow with us over time

Location

This role is based on-site at our Austin, TX shop (415 E St Elmo Rd, Austin, TX 78745).
