Electric Machine- Design Engineer
Role Overview
The Electric Machine Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of electric motors used in EV applications. The role involves electromagnetic design, thermal analysis, mechanical integration, and performance validation of electric machines to meet efficiency, cost, and reliability targets.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop electric machines (BLDC / PMSM / Induction Motors) for EV applications.
Perform electromagnetic design and simulations using tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, or JMAG.
Conduct thermal and structural analysis to ensure reliability and performance under various operating conditions.
Develop motor specifications, design calculations, and technical documentation.
Work closely with power electronics, control systems, and mechanical teams for motor integration.
Support prototype development, testing, and validation of electric machines.
Optimize designs for efficiency, cost, manufacturability, and weight reduction.
Investigate failure analysis and root cause analysis for motor-related issues.
Collaborate with suppliers for magnet, lamination, winding, and motor component development.
Ensure compliance with automotive and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Machines, or related field.
3–8 years of experience in electric motor design (EV / automotive / industrial motors preferred).
Strong understanding of:
Electromagnetics
Electric machine theory
Motor control fundamentals
Experience in simulation tools such as:
ANSYS Maxwell
Motor-CAD
JMAG
MATLAB / Simulink (preferred)
