Electrical & Control Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design
- Develop, review, and update electrical, instrumentation, and control system designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations for industrial and building services projects.
- Prepare single-line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, cable schedules, and instrumentation drawings.
- Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, and equipment selection.
- Design and review PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Building Management System (BMS) control architectures where applicable.
- Ensure all engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise electrical and control system installation works in accordance with project schedules and technical specifications.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Review technical submissions, material specifications, vendor drawings, and equipment datasheets for compliance.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and site activities, resolving technical issues as they arise.
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Supervise the installation of electrical panels, PLCs, field instruments, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and control systems.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), loop checks, functional testing, and system commissioning.
- Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, communication, and automation system issues during installation and commissioning.
- Verify system performance, functionality, and compliance before project handover.
Operations & Maintenance
- Provide technical support for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, retrofitting, and upgrading of electrical and control systems.
- Perform root cause analysis on electrical and automation failures, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Optimise system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, operational procedures, and statutory regulations.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of experience in electrical and control engineering within industrial, manufacturing, process, utilities, data centre, or building services environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor control, PLCs, HMI, SCADA, BMS, field instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with electrical drawings, control panel design, testing and commissioning, and relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting electrical and control systems, with strong analytical and root cause analysis skills.
- Good communication, coordination, and project management skills.
- Able to work independently while managing multiple projects within established timelines.
