Job Summary:
Join Caterpillar as an Electrical Design Engineer supporting electrification programs in Mossville, Illinois. In this role, you will own the design and validation of electrical components, including pumps, compressors, fans, valves, and related technologies that support Caterpillar's electrified products and systems. As a key contributor within a highly collaborative engineering environment, you will help advance innovative solutions that support Caterpillar's commitment to building a more sustainable future.
You will be responsible for component ownership throughout the development process, translating technical requirements into engineering documentation, interpreting electrical schematics and system architecture, and applying industry standards to Caterpillar requirements. Working closely with suppliers, purchasing teams, validation teams, product groups, and technical subject matter experts, you will help deliver reliable, high-quality component solutions that meet customer and business needs.
This onsite role offers the opportunity to build deep technical expertise in electrification systems while developing strong cross-functional relationships across Caterpillar's engineering network. The successful candidate will bring strong electrical design and validation capabilities, technical curiosity, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges, while contributing to the future of Caterpillar electrification programs through component ownership, technical excellence, and collaborative problem solving.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Electrification Programs – Support Caterpillar's electrification initiatives through ownership and validation of critical electrical components.
Electrical Component Ownership – Drive technical decisions and engineering deliverables for key electrical system components.
Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration – Partner with suppliers, product groups, purchasing teams, validation teams, and technical experts to achieve program objectives.
Technical Excellence – Apply engineering principles and industry standards to deliver reliable, high-quality component solutions.
Product Development and Validation – Support the successful development and validation of electrical components from requirements through implementation.
Responsibilities:
Own electrical components including pumps, compressors, fans, valves, and related components.
Interpret electrical schematics and electrical system architecture.
Translate technical requirements into engineering documentation.
Read, understand, and apply industry standards to Caterpillar requirements.
Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing teams, product groups, validation teams, and subject matter experts.
Support electrical component design and validation activities for electrification programs.
Build effective working relationships with design engineers, machine teams, and suppliers.
Develop technical expertise in electrification systems and supported component technologies.
Degree Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred but other Engineering degrees will be considered

Technical Qualifications:
Understanding of electrical components and system architecture.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, purchasing teams, validation teams, product groups, and technical subject matter experts.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Electrical Engineering background preferred.
High-voltage electrical component experience.
Supplier collaboration experience.
Off-highway heavy equipment experience.
Mechanical Engineering background with strong electrical experience may be considered.
Exceptional master's graduates with strong internship experience may be considered.

Location: Mossville, IL (Building AC)
Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week
Travel: Approximately 10%, including possible international travel

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
