About the role
You’ll connect Cortex to working industrial machines. You’ll design and build control panels, integrate field devices, develop controls applications, and commission systems at customer sites.
You’ll also build the internal test systems and reference designs our software team uses to develop the product. What you learn at the machine will become better hardware, clearer documentation, and actionable software improvements.
Customer travel: approximately 50% or more, as needed.
What you’ll build
- Design electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs, from 24 VDC I/O to 480 V three-phase loads.
- Build internal test systems with motors, VFDs, pneumatics, sensors, and safety circuits.
- Integrate remote I/O, drives, HMIs, and field devices across industrial networks.
- Write controls applications for pilots and demos in Neuron’s development environment.
- Commission systems through point-to-point checkout, I/O validation, tuning, and safety verification.
- Document reusable panel designs, grounding and shielding practices, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Improve the product by reproducing field issues and working with hardware and software engineers on fixes.
What you’ve already proven
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering with a controls emphasis.
- You’ve designed and physically built a working control system, including a panel, field wiring, and controller application code.
- You can explain your personal contribution to a commissioning or integration project and an issue you resolved.
- Practical electrical fundamentals: conductor sizing, protection, motors, grounding, and noise troubleshooting.
- Experience with industrial networks, drives, sensors, and safety circuits.
- You debug at the machine with instruments, find root causes, and document fixes clearly.
- You can work directly with customers and travel approximately 50% or more as needed.
What gets you here faster
- System integration, plant controls, or customer-site commissioning experience.
- Industrial networks, servo systems, or coordinated motion.
- Panel certification or machine safety experience, including UL 508A, NFPA 79, or ISO 13849.
