Raytheon is seeking an Electrical Engineering Hardware Engineering Section Manager to support program area responsibilities for the Optics Center in the Optics Electronics Department. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the Optic Electronics (OED) hardware engineering team. This position entails being a section level leader to a Configurable Logic hardware group as well as an individual contributor on programs requiring configurable logic.

This is an onsite position located in McKinney, TX.

What You Will Do

  • Perform functional management tasks for a team of up to 15 engineers as well as be actively engaged in the technical and engineering programmatic aspects of programs within MTS products.
  • Ensure that the work performed by those in the section is on schedule, on budget, and right the first time.
  • Engineering leadership tasks include but are not limited to such activities as ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are made available to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, leading productivity improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Interact frequently with Team Leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that the section is meeting the needs of its internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems, and Software Engineering, to obtain pertinent information required to accomplish tasks.
  • Ensure consistent application of engineering best practices and activity undertaken are conducted to common standards in accordance with outlined processes.
  • Three quarters of the Section Manager's time will be devoted to direct work on programs in roles such as Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), team lead, individual technical contributor, technical reviewer, etc., including the following:
  • Participating in the full system lifecycle development including requirements analysis, design, implementation and testing, hardware integration and test, system level integration, and performing requirements analysis/definition to ensure the system will meet all customer requirements.
  • Participate in hardware artifacts review.
  • Participate in customer and/or program technical review presentations and provide task progress and solution status updates.
  • Manage their own workload and have meaningful resolution analysis skills.
  • Occasional overtime to support critical program events.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Willing to travel <20% of the time to support flight tests and off‐site integration activities.
  • Facilitate career development of team members and conduct meaningful performance development discussions.
  • Evaluate performance of section members and ensure on-time completion of required and suggested training.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience in engineering development or equivalent experience.
  • Technical leadership experience managing technical teams, including working with Program office and Customer teams throughout the entire hardware life cycle.

Experience in the design, development, and/or production of complex military electronics subsystems including proficiency in at least one of the four areas:

  • Mixed Signal Design: A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs.
  • Digital Hardware: Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits, FPGA/ASICs, COTS Interfaces, Subsystem Development, VME/PCI interfaces, System Trades, Architecture, Embedded Processing.
  • Integration and Test Development Experience: Hardware integration and development for testing subsystems and components.
  • Experience designing projects with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA/SoCs.
  • Experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design, schematic capture and/or CCA integration.
  • Experience providing cost estimates for proposal activities.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Graduate degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA) + BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
  • Working experience with hardware interfaces, and space/airborne sensor systems
    Knowledge Xpedition/ Mentor Graphics.
  • Exposure to analytical tools such as Matlab/Simulink, LabVIEW.
  • Experience with circuit card component selection, schematic entry, and layout.
  • Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum.
  • Knowledge of Cost Account Management (CAM).
  • Experience managing vendors to develop sub-system components.
  • Knowledge of Earn Value Management System (EVMS).

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
