About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas to support the design and development of mission critical data center facilities. This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer with direct experience in data center electrical design, including utility coordination, medium- and low-voltage distribution, standby generation, UPS systems, grounding, and overall mission critical power infrastructure.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions for complex data center projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and construction stakeholders to support projects from concept development through detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the electrical design of data center and other mission critical facilities.
Prepare and review electrical design packages, calculations, specifications, single-line diagrams, and construction drawings.
Design and coordinate systems including utility service entrance, medium-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, grounding, and lightning protection.
Perform electrical load studies, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash evaluations.
Support design development for reliability configurations such as N, N+1, 2N, and other mission critical redundancy strategies.
Coordinate with mechanical, controls, civil, structural, architectural, and telecom disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
Interface with clients, utility providers, OEMs, contractors, and AHJs throughout the design and execution process.
Review vendor submittals and respond to RFIs during design and construction phases.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities as required.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and local Texas regulations.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas.
Minimum 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, with significant experience in data center or mission critical facility design.
Strong understanding of electrical power systems for mission critical environments.
Experience preparing technical design documents, calculations, and drawing packages.
Familiarity with electrical system modeling and analysis tools.
Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry practices.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing large-scale or hyperscale data center facilities.
Familiarity with behind-the-meter generation, backup power systems, and BESS integration.
Experience supporting construction administration, commissioning, and energization planning.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar engineering software.
Previous experience working with owners, EPC contractors, or mission critical design firms.
