ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong project management experience to lead the successful delivery of electrical, HVAC, and critical infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand.

This role combines technical expertise with project management responsibility. You will oversee projects from tender handover and planning through procurement, installation, commissioning, practical completion, and close-out, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Projects may include commercial electrical installations, HVAC systems, backup power solutions, UPS systems, generators, renewable energy solutions, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and other specialist infrastructure projects.


To be successful in this role, you will hold a recognised Electrical Engineering qualification and have proven experience delivering electrical projects from planning through to commissioning and completion.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lead the delivery of projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, resources, risks, and commercial outcomes
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and customer stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and support across project activities
  • Review designs, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Manage project reporting, forecasting, variations, and contract requirements
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover activities
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and identify growth opportunities
  • Promote a strong health, safety, environment, and quality culture across all projects

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent) is essential.
  • Proven experience managing electrical and/or HVAC projects from planning through to commissioning and completion
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and relevant New Zealand standards
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and project delivery teams
  • Strong commercial and financial management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout New Zealand as required

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with generators, UPS systems, renewable energy, or battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Experience using Simpro, MS Project, or similar project management software
