ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
You will serve as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER in the POWER AND LIGHTING BRANCH (276), ENGINEERING DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings required to execute complex projects, evaluates mandays required for shipchecking, develop each drawing, order special material, and prepare test procedures.
You will ensure completion dates for various phases of the project satisfy requirements by coordinating efforts of assigned engineers and technicians and advise the Branch Head on number of people required to meet scheduled dates.
You will provide technical guidance for and prepare procedures for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
You will determine special equipment required to perform tests and instruments needed to acquire operating data and the extent of testing to be performed based on the amount and type of work accomplished on equipment.
You will prepare specifications and provide directions for the procurement of special materials and services associated with assigned projects, ensuring specifications and operating parameters are met to permit competitive bidding.
You will prepare and review all drawings, material, specifications, test procedures and other documents pertaining to the project for technical adequacy and compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
You will provide all electrical drawings, special racks and equipment and modifications to install a specific system in a specified space.
You will direct and coordinate the projects and work of assigned personnel and submit it to the Branch Head for approval while adhering to production and time schedules.
You will be required to TDY 20% of the time to shipcheck, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components, including periods aboard ship at sea.
