Electrical Manager

The Electrical Manager (Eastern Canada) is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for supporting the delivery of Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) projects across Eastern Canada. Reporting to the Western Canada Manager, this position provides regional discipline leadership, supports project execution, and coordinates engineering resources to ensure successful project delivery across multiple programs and clients.

The role is accountable for supporting staffing forecasts, resource planning, budget tracking, proposal development, and technical delivery activities. The Electrical Manager works closely with discipline leads and project teams to maintain quality standards, schedule performance, and consistent engineering practices throughout all project phases, including planning, design, procurement support, construction, and commissioning. The ideal candidate brings extensive electrical engineering experience, proven leadership capability, and a strong background delivering multidisciplinary industrial or infrastructure projects within a consulting, EPCM, or owner-operated environment.

The ideal candidate possesses 15-20+ years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership responsibility on aviation, infrastructure, or building electrical projects. Experience with technical quality management, engineering oversight, and mentoring design teams is essential, together with professional engineering registration and demonstrated knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide discipline leadership for Electrical and I&C engineering projects across Eastern Canada, supporting project execution and technical delivery.
  • Support regional budget management by tracking financial performance, forecasting resource requirements, and reporting project metrics.
  • Develop staffing forecasts and resource allocation plans to ensure effective utilization of engineering personnel.
  • Coordinate with discipline leads and project managers to align project priorities, workload distribution, and delivery schedules.
  • Support proposal preparation, scope development, cost estimating, and bid submission activities.
  • Provide design leadership coverage during staffing shortages, vacations, or absences to maintain project continuity.
  • Assist project teams with technical reviews, design coordination, and engineering problem resolution during all project phases.
  • Monitor project schedule adherence and support corrective actions to mitigate delivery risks.
  • Support implementation of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes across regional projects.
  • Promote consistency in engineering standards, technical documentation, and project execution practices.
  • Facilitate stakeholder coordination among project teams, clients, and engineering disciplines to support successful project outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering execution, resource management, and project delivery.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in a Canadian province, with eligibility for registration in additional provinces across Eastern Canada.
  • 15+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including project delivery, design leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory, team lead, discipline lead, or engineering management capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering industrial, energy, utilities, mining, transportation, water/wastewater, or infrastructure projects through planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, resource planning, workload forecasting, and engineering staffing requirements.
  • Strong understanding of engineering QA/QC processes, technical reviews, and design management practices.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, scope definition, estimating, and competitive bid submissions.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Canadian electrical codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • Experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams across multiple provinces.
  • Experience with Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems for industrial facilities.
  • Previous experience serving as Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Design Manager, or Discipline Lead on major capital projects.
  • Familiarity with power system studies, substation design, renewable energy, utility projects, or industrial automation systems.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience with resource management, enterprise project controls, and financial performance reporting.
  • Established client relationships and business development experience within Eastern Canada markets.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design tools such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, AutoCAD Electrical, or Revit.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration (MBA).
