Electrical Project Engineer - Water

Hays are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to support the delivery of water infrastructure projects across the Norwich area.This would suit someone with a strong electrical engineering background who is comfortable taking responsibility for packages of work from design review and procurement through installation, testing and handover.
You'll be joining an established delivery team working on operational water and wastewater assets, so previous experience within the water sector would be a real advantage.

The role

Rather than being purely design or site based, this position sits between engineering and construction. You'll work with designers, suppliers, subcontractors and the site team to make sure electrical packages are technically right, buildable and delivered in line with the programme.

Day to day, this is likely to involve:

• Managing electrical work packages from design through to installation and commissioning
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions
• Raising and resolving technical queries
• Coordinating electrical activities with mechanical, civil and process teams
• Working with suppliers and subcontractors on equipment selection and procurement
• Monitoring installation progress and dealing with engineering issues as they arise
• Checking that electrical works meet the required technical and quality standards
• Supporting site teams during installation, testing and commissioning
• Managing documentation through to completion and handover
• Attending design, progress and coordination meetings
• Keeping a close eye on programme, safety, quality and delivery

What we're looking for

Ideally, you'll already have experience delivering electrical engineering packages within water, wastewater, utilities or process infrastructure.

We're particularly interested in people with:

• Experience as an Electrical Project Engineer, Electrical Engineer or EICA/MEICA Project Engineer
• A relevant electrical or engineering qualification
• Experience taking electrical packages through design, procurement and construction
• Good understanding of electrical drawings and technical specifications
• Experience working with subcontractors, designers and equipment suppliers
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and handover
• Strong site awareness and a practical approach to solving engineering problems
• Good communication and organisation skills

Experience around treatment works, pumping stations, MCCs, control panels, motors, instrumentation or associated process equipment would be useful.
