Discussion

Summary

Manages electrical projects end to end for a logistics/e-commerce client's facilities across Canada and the U.S., centered on arc flash and power system studies, LOTO placarding, equipment labeling, retrofits, and commissioning support. Requires an electrical engineering or PSE background and 2+ years managing field service projects.

The Project Manager leads electrical projects for an international logistics and e-commerce client at new and operating facilities across Canada and the United States. The role focuses primarily on the client's arc flash and electrical safety program: arc flash and power system studies, equipment labeling, lockout/tagout (LOTO) placarding, retrofit and expansion projects at operating sites, and post-launch infrared inspection. Much of this work runs on construction and launch schedules and requires close coordination between engineering and field service teams, general contractors, and site start-up teams. The role may also support other electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning projects across the account.

The successful candidate owns an assigned portfolio from scope confirmation through field execution, deliverables, customer acceptance, invoicing, and closeout, and works closely with the Program Manager, Strategic Accounts, engineering teams, regional managers, and Field Service Technicians in both countries to deliver Superior Client Experiences. The role makes day-to-day decisions for its assigned portfolio, while the Program Manager retains pricing, commercial, and account-level decisions.

Key Accountabilities

Project Delivery

  • Own assigned Canadian and U.S. projects end to end: scope, schedule, resources, budget, readiness, execution, deliverables, customer acceptance, and closeout
  • Run readiness and go/no-go reviews before mobilization, confirming site access, drawings, technical inputs, equipment, resources, and customer dependencies
  • Coordinate with general contractors, construction managers, and site start-up teams to complete work ahead of facility launch
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on arc flash and power system studies and manage customer review and correction cycles through acceptance
  • Plan outage windows, energization dates, and multi-visit field sequences, and track deficiencies through to closure

Field Execution and Quality

  • Provide on-site field support as required, including site walks, inspections, data collection, LOTO placarding, and commissioning support
  • Promote site safety, quality, and documentation standards, and support technicians in the field
  • Review field data and reports for completeness and quality before submission to the customer

Engineering and Field Service Coordination

  • Plan resource requirements for assigned projects and coordinate with regional project managers, engineering teams, and Field Service Technicians across offices to confirm availability, align schedules, and support site execution
  • Ensure engineering inputs, field resources, equipment, materials, PPE, and required qualifications are in place before mobilization, and build safe work practices and stop-work expectations into every job
  • Integrate new team members into projects safely and support their development

Client Relationships

  • Serve as the primary project contact for assigned sites, with clear status reporting and timely follow-up
  • Build strong working relationships with customer site, construction, and program stakeholders to support repeat work and account growth, and bring new service opportunities to the Program Manager

Commercial and Financial Control

  • Maintain project forecasts, costs, and CRM and ERP records for the assigned portfolio
  • Identify scope changes and changed conditions early, and prepare change orders within delegated authority
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, including applicable extras, supported by completion evidence and customer acceptance
  • Review project labor, travel, and expense charges for accuracy, and flag margin risk early

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to account SOPs, checklists, trackers, pricing feedback, and onboarding material, and share lessons learned from the field.
  • Electrical engineering degree or diploma, electrical engineering technology diploma, or Power System Electrician (PSE) certification
  • 3+ years of electrical field service experience as an Electrical Technologist, Field Technician, Power System Electrician, or engineer, including hands-on testing, commissioning, or maintenance of switchgear, breakers, relays, and transformers
  • 2+ years managing field service, testing, commissioning, or construction projects with schedule, budget, client, and invoicing responsibility
  • Working knowledge of CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and LOTO practices
  • Valid driver's license and passport, and ability to travel to Canadian and U.S. client sites
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and demonstrated ability to learn and use CRM, ERP, and project scheduling tools
  • Occasional work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends, to support outages, launches, and customer deadlines
