Electrical QA/QC BIM Lead

Discussion

Summary

A technical QA/QC specialist reviews electrical shop drawings, submittals, and BIM models for U.S.-based construction projects, verifying accuracy, coordination, and NEC/U.S. code compliance using Revit and Navisworks. It's an individual-contributor, QA-focused role with no people management.

Electrical QA/QC Specialist – BIM & VDC

About the Role

We are looking for a highly technical Electrical QA/QC Specialist to support our BIM/VDC team and ensure the quality, accuracy, and technical compliance of electrical deliverables for U.S.-based projects.

This is a technical QA/QC position, not a traditional Job Captain, Project Manager, or BIM Modeling role. The primary focus will be reviewing electrical submittals, shop drawings, BIM content, and models to ensure they are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements and U.S. electrical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review electrical shop drawings, submittals, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance.

  • Review electrical BIM models and verify that model content is properly updated based on approved submittals.

  • Review and validate Revit families and electrical BIM content for consistency and accuracy.

  • Identify discrepancies, omissions, or technical issues between submittals, documentation, and BIM models.

  • Ensure electrical deliverables align with applicable U.S. standards, codes, and NEC requirements.

  • Perform quality control reviews of electrical BIM deliverables before final submission.

  • Work closely with the BIM/VDC team to communicate QA/QC findings and required corrections.

  • Use Revit and Navisworks as needed to inspect models, review model information, and identify coordination or quality issues.

  • Maintain a consistent QA/QC process and help identify recurring quality issues within electrical deliverables.

  • Independently manage assigned QA/QC tasks and meet established deadlines and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Professional experience working with electrical systems and construction documentation.

  • Previous experience with U.S.-based construction, engineering, or MEP projects.

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and U.S. electrical standards/codes.

  • Experience reviewing electrical shop drawings, submittals, and technical documentation.

  • Strong understanding of electrical design and construction practices.

  • Experience with BIM/VDC workflows and the relationship between electrical documentation, submittals, and BIM models.

  • Ability to identify technical discrepancies and quality issues with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of Revit.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Navisworks.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing QA/QC for electrical BIM or VDC deliverables.

  • Experience reviewing Revit electrical families and model content.

  • Experience with electrical coordination and clash review.

  • Experience working with U.S. contractors, engineers, architects, or MEP firms.

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or other technically complex construction projects.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strong electrical technical professional who has an eye for quality and understands how electrical design and construction requirements translate into BIM deliverables.

This role does not require extensive project management or people-management experience. We are prioritizing technical electrical expertise, U.S. project experience, NEC knowledge, and QA/QC capabilities over management skills.

Revit and Navisworks proficiency is important, but the candidate does not need to be an expert modeler or coordinator. The ability to navigate the platforms, inspect models, and understand BIM deliverables is sufficient, with additional training available as needed.

Position Type

  • Long-term position

  • Technical individual contributor role

  • QA/QC-focused

  • U.S.-based project environment

  • No direct people-management responsibilities
