ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and components, including wiring, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications to determine wiring layouts and installation procedures.
  • Test electrical systems and components for functionality, safety, and compliance with regulations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Replace or repair faulty electrical components, such as switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards in all work activities.
  • Collaborate with other trades and contractors on construction projects to ensure proper coordination of electrical work.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and service records.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other maintenance staff or apprentices.
  • Keep abreast of developments in electrical technology, codes, and standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and electrical hazards.
  • Respond to emergency calls and service requests to address electrical issues promptly.
  • Estimate material and labor costs for electrical projects and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members to ensure timely completion of work and customer satisfaction.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education; completion of an apprenticeship program or technical training in electrical work.
  • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as an electrical technician or electrician, with knowledge of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using electrical tools and equipment, such as multimeters, wire strippers, and conduit benders.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing electrical work.
  • Customer service orientation and professionalism.
