Elevate Youth Navigator

POSITION SUMMARY: The Elevate Youth Navigator supports youth ages 12–26 to build leadership skills, prevent substance use, and engage in civic action that advances community-level change. This role centers youth voice through facilitation, mentorship, and prevention programming across Stanislaus County.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position generally follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role also includes two evening shifts per week (until 8:00 PM) and 4 hours of work on Saturdays, on a rotating basis. For example, an employee may work two weeknights one week and a Saturday shift the following week. While the schedule may vary week to week, the total hours will generally not exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be required based on program needs.

DUTIES:

  1. Recruits, engages, and supports youth ages 12–26 to participate in Elevate Youth California–funded prevention, leadership, and civic engagement activities across Stanislaus County.

  1. Facilitates monthly Youth Leadership Council meetings, supporting youth leadership development, substance use prevention education, civic engagement skill-building, and peer-led discussion.

  1. Coordinates and facilitates monthly substance use prevention activities for broader youth participants, incorporating stigma-reducing, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approaches.

  1. Supports youth in designing and administering peer surveys and hosting listening sessions to gather youth input on community needs, risk factors, and protective factors related to substance use.

  1. Guides youth through data review and reflection processes to identify priority policy, systems, or environmental (P.S.E.) issues and develop youth-driven recommendations.

  1. Supports youth-led civic engagement activities, including preparation for presentations, meetings with decision-makers, coalition participation, and public showcase events.

  1. Coordinates mentorship opportunities by matching participating youth with trusted adult mentors and/or peer buddies to strengthen protective relationships and positive role modeling.

  1. Plans and facilitates quarterly culturally rooted healing activities (e.g., talking circles, wellness activities, creative expression) that promote belonging, resilience, and cultural pride.

  1. Conducts outreach and builds relationships with schools, and community partners to support recruitment, meeting space, and sustained youth participation.

  1. Provides logistical support for youth activities, including scheduling, transportation coordination, stipends, and communication with participants and families as appropriate.

  1. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of participant engagement, attendance, surveys, and outcomes in agency databases and required reporting systems.

  1. Participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and trainings to ensure alignment with program goals, prevention best practices, and grant requirements.

  1. Supports data collection and reporting efforts related to program outcomes, monitoring, and evaluation in collaboration with program leadership.

  1. Performs additional duties as assigned to support team collaboration and program success.
