Summary
Embedded C Software Engineer developing and verifying safety-critical bare-metal missile subsystem software through the full lifecycle using C/C++, DOORS, and unit testing tools like LDRA/RAPITA in a lab environment.
Salary: £145,600 - 145,600 per year
Requirements:- We need someone with good ability to debug complex problems and produce the documentation required to achieve the necessary safety level.
- We need someone who can author specifications across the full lifecycle, including planning, design, and test documents.
- We need experience in requirements analysis.
- We need knowledge of source configuration control processes such as PVCS, RTC, and Git.
- We need someone who can work with minimal supervision.
- We need experience working with formal requirements capture tools.
- We need significant previous experience developing bare-metal embedded software using C/C++.
- We need previous experience developing and verifying embedded software in C at a high safety integrity level such as SIL4, DO178C Level B, or equivalent.
- We need experience creating specifications and compliance records in DOORS.
- We need working knowledge of C/C++ for testing special builds and carrying out focused code reviews.
- We need experience with unit testing using LDRA, RAPITA, CPPUnit, or an equivalent testing tool.
- We need understanding of code coverage and the techniques or strategies used to cover or justify shortfalls.
- We need experience working in a lab environment with live equipment such as PSUs, scopes, and logic analysers while conducting system tests.
- Desirable: significant experience developing software to DO178C Level B.
- Desirable: knowledge of defence standards and micro-controller technologies.
- Desirable: experience testing on development cards with a test environment or bare-metal with special builds.
- Desirable: experience using RAPITA test systems.
- Desirable: knowledge and use of ALM.
- Desirable: experience creating and using virtual machines such as VMWare.
- We are responsible for delivering the on-board software for the next generation of missile systems.
- We will architect, design, implement, and test missile subsystem software.
- We will develop software through the full lifecycle for safety-related real-time systems application software.

We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, and we are looking for a highly capable and adaptable Embedded C Software Engineer to join our Development Facility in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. This is an initial 6-month contract role with ongoing and long-term potential thereafter. The role is onsite, although a 4-day working week from Monday to Thursday is available. The position is 37 hours per week, with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked above 37. The contract is inside IR35 and offered via umbrella engagement.
