Embedded Engineer -12 months fixed term

Rewired Consulting is partnering with an innovative Auckland-based technology company to recruit an experienced Embedded & Application Engineer.

This is an opportunity to work on market-leading embedded products, developing software that powers connected hardware deployed internationally.

You'll join a collaborative engineering team where you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle—from design and development through to testing, debugging and ongoing product enhancement.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software and firmware
• Develop new functionality and enhance existing products
• Work closely with hardware and software engineers to deliver high-quality solutions
• Debug embedded systems and resolve complex technical issues
• Participate in design discussions and technical planning
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Agile development practices

What we're looking for

• Commercial experience developing embedded software in C/C++
• Experience with Python
• Knowledge of embedded Linux environments
• Understanding of electronics and embedded hardware
• Experience working with communication protocols including SPI, I2C, USB, Serial or Ethernet
• Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices
• Experience using debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes or logic analysers is highly regarded
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
