Technology is changing what good care can look like.

Used well, technology can help care professionals identify risks earlier, respond faster and provide care that is better adapted to each individual. It can improve collaboration between colleagues, create greater continuity in everyday work and give care teams more time to focus on the people who need them.

Sensio is a leading European care technology company. Through our software platform Sensio 365, our nurse call solution, and our ‘hero-product’ the RoomMate AI multisensor, we help care providers deliver safer, more personalized and more efficient care. RoomMate is developed and manufactured in Norway, and it is probably the most widely deployed sensor of its kind across elderly care anywhere in the world.

With the backing of Nordic Capital, a leading European healthcare and healthtech investor, we are investing actively in product development and expanding the impact of our technology across international markets.

We’re looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer

This role is dedicated to the continued development of RoomMate.

Developed and manufactured in Norway, RoomMate is a privacy-first safety sensor designed for digital supervision in care environments. By combining advanced sensing, image processing and algorithms, RoomMate helps care teams identify falls and other potentially dangerous situations.

As an embedded software engineer, you will work on the embedded software that makes RoomMate reliable in real-world care environments. You will work closely with hardware, product and engineering colleagues to improve the product’s performance, precision and robustness, and to develop new functionality as RoomMate continues to evolve.

This is a role for someone who wants to understand the product, the people who use it, the technical constraints and the real-world consequences of the decisions being made, not just receive a ticket, write the code and move on.

You will join a strong product and engineering environment where hardware and software are developed in-house. Your work can directly contribute to safer care, a better working day for care professionals and the continued development of care technology across Europe.

The role can be based at Sensio’s offices in Sandvika or Oslo, with occasional travel between the two locations. You will report to the RoomMate Dev Lead.

Your day-to-day

You will be part of the team developing and improving the embedded software behind RoomMate. Your daily work will include:

  • Developing and maintaining embedded software in C++ on Linux

  • Working closely with colleagues across hardware, product, design and engineering to shape the next generation of RoomMate

  • Taking ownership of complex technical challenges, from problem definition to working solutions

  • Contributing to product discovery and technical decision-making

  • Improving the quality, reliability, performance and maintainability of a product used in real care environments

  • Supporting a strong engineering culture through knowledge-sharing, technical discussions and mentoring

This is what we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced embedded software engineer who combines strong technical depth with product understanding and ownership. If you’re the right candidate for the job, you probably are:

  • Very experienced with C++ and embedded software development in Linux environments, preferably using Yocto

  • Experienced within Hardware in the Loop testing

  • Someone with good judgement when balancing technical quality, product needs and practical constraints

  • A team player - you thrive in a team environment, sharing knowledge and growing together.

  • A product-oriented thinker - you think beyond code and understand how technology impacts the end user

  • Fluent in English

Bonus points if you have experience with one of the following

  • Communication technologies such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, mobile networks or Bluetooth

  • Hardware development or close collaboration with hardware teams

  • CI/CD pipelines and testing in embedded environments

  • Signal processing, machine learning or AI-related functionality

  • Products where reliability, privacy, safety or regulatory considerations matter

At Sensio, the way you work is just as important as your technical background. It is important that you are someone who takes initiative, ask good questions, share knowledge and care about the product beyond the codebase.

What Sensio can offer

At Sensio, you will work on technology with a strong purpose and a genuine user need. RoomMate is developed for real care environments, where reliability, precision and thoughtful engineering directly affect both the people receiving care and the professionals supporting them.

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute to a product that can help prevent dangerous situations, support more personalized care and give care teams better insight in their daily work. This is where strong engineering becomes more than technical quality: it contributes to safety, dignity and more time for care.

What we can offer:

  • A central role in the continued development of RoomMate, Sensio’s hero product

  • The opportunity to build technology that supports care professionals, residents and their next of kin

  • A Norwegian product and technology environment with an established European presence

  • A strong, cross-functional team working across hardware, software, product and design

  • The opportunity to take ownership, influence technical direction and grow professionally

This is a role for someone who wants the technical complexity of embedded software, the ownership that comes with product development and the opportunity to build technology that matters. If that sounds like you, we would like to hear from you!
