The Position:
The Ubiquiti Kaunas office is looking for a talented and self-driven embedded C/C++ developer. We expect you to bring your experience, enthusiasm and creativity wherever you go and put them in the work you do. You should be able to think out of the box when finding solutions to brand new problems and make things work when the solution is not straightforward.
Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for managed Ethernet switches and related networking products;
- Collaborate with global firmware, hardware, and product teams throughout product design, bring-up, development, and release;
- Develop and maintain Linux user-space services, management daemons, platform libraries, and hardware abstraction components;
- Implement and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching functionality, including VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, LLDP, multicast, and routing features;
- Integrate switching silicon SDKs, platform components, and third-party open-source software into the firmware;
- Improve switching performance, reliability, startup time, resource usage, and system observability;
- Work with hardware engineers on board bring-up, BSP integration, hardware validation, and low-level issue investigation;
- Diagnose complex control-plane and data-plane issues using logs, packet captures, hardware counters, tracing, and profiling tools.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of embedded software development experience using C or C++;
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, including processes, memory management, networking, netlink, and event-driven I/O;
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet switching and networking fundamentals, including Layer 2, Layer 3, VLANs, bridging, multicast, and routing;
- Experience developing Linux-based firmware, platform services, system daemons, or networking applications;
- Experience with Git, Bash, cross-compilation, toolchains, and embedded build systems such as OpenWrt, Buildroot, or Linux From Scratch.
- Experience with AI tools - Claude, Codex, etc;
- Fluent in English and Lithuanian.
Nice to have:
- Experience with routing software such as FRRouting or Quagga;
- Understanding of data-plane processing, hardware offloading, packet pipelines, and performance optimization;
- Experience with Broadcom SDKs, Intel/Barefoot Tofino, P4, or comparable switching silicon and frameworks;
- Experience developing data-center, enterprise, or carrier-grade Ethernet switches;
- Experience with BSP development, Linux device drivers, bootloaders, or hardware abstraction layers;
- Ability to contribute to system and software architecture across multiple product areas.
