You’ll ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, GXO standards and customer expectations, while driving a culture of prevention, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.

In this role, you’ll establish, lead and maintain EMEA Safety Governance and Steering Committees, providing performance transparency and proactive risk management across multiple countries and business units. You’ll act as the primary EHS strategic partner for the customer, building trusted relationships and ensuring agreed safety deliverables, performance expectations and improvement initiatives are delivered.

You’ll report directly to the VP Safety EU/UK&I and work closely with senior customer stakeholders, the Strategic Account Director, and GXO operational and EHS leadership teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the EMEA EHS program for the account, driving continuous improvement through a strong governance framework
  • Act as a senior EHS partner and trusted advisor to customer leadership, aligning GXO and customer EHS objectives
  • Lead EMEA Safety Steering Committees and governance forums to manage risk, monitor performance and ensure consistent execution
  • Partner with Operations, HR, Engineering, Security, Real Estate, Business Development and customer leadership teams to embed EHS excellence
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EHS legislation, customer requirements and GXO standards across the account portfolio
  • Maintain and improve the Account Safety Management System, including policies, procedures, controls and governance processes
  • Define, agree and monitor strategic EHS objectives and KPIs with customer and GXO leadership teams
  • Lead executive-level performance reporting, providing insight, analysis and recommendations
  • Identify, assess and mitigate strategic and operational EHS risks across account operations
  • Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, trend analysis, corrective actions and prevention planning
  • Lead EHS training, awareness and engagement programmes that strengthen capability and safety culture
  • Coordinate customer audits, regulatory inspections and corporate reviews, ensuring audit readiness and timely closure of actions
  • Support sustainability and environmental performance, including energy, waste, emissions, resource use and environmental reporting
  • Conduct periodic site visits, support customer meetings and audits, and provide hands-on support during new programme and process deployments

What you’ll need to succeed at GXO

  • More than five years’ experience managing EHS and compliance programmes for multinational customers, ideally in logistics, manufacturing, technology or another fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and international and local EHS regulations
  • Proven experience delivering EHS governance, risk management, compliance and continuous improvement across multiple countries
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior customer, operational and leadership stakeholders
  • Strong communication, presentation and training skills in English
  • Excellent decision-making, stakeholder influencing and conflict management skills
  • Strong results orientation with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple strategic initiatives
  • Experience supporting fast-growing operations, new business implementations, launches or operational change
  • Flexibility to travel internationally and hold a valid EU Driving License

It would be great if you also have:

  • EHS qualifications in the Netherlands or Scandinavia
  • Dangerous Goods qualifications
  • Experience working with customer-facing EHS programmes for strategic or global key accounts
  • Experience with safety technology platforms, data-led reporting or automated EHS management tools

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary plus benefits and company car or allowance
  • Clear and visible career paths within a global organisation that invests in leadership development and internal progression
  • A culture built on safety, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement, where your ideas and leadership can make a real difference
